wobbly bicycle wheels

This is a great way to save money and if you have friends with bicycles that need truing you can even make a couple of bucks.  You will hear this gentleman talk of a "truing stand" this improves the efficiency of truing. The term to TRUE a wheel is to make it straight and not wobbly.  You can find a truing tool at any hardware store or bike shop and maybe even at the 99 cent store. Todays video was inspired on how to fix someone who is not breathing. I was talking with some friends and they asked me jokingly if i knew how to fix my wife, to which i replied you can not fix a person, and that's when i got to thinking. So how to give CPR is a helpful tool to have in your handy person bag. not so complicated carpet!!

This video is very helpful and has all the necessary steps to installing your carpet. This may seem like a big job but with the right amount of patience and a good attitude you can do it. How to install a dimmer switch

Todays video is by request. My friend told me two days ago that he was nstalling dimmer lights over his kitchen dinning area and I had a  couple tips for him. With a furrowed brow he asked me if I could post a video and I am happy to oblige him. This video shows how to replace your existing light switch with a dimmer.  One thing that people don't know to do is to also replace your light bulbs with dimming bulbs, yes they are more expensive but the difference is tremendious.  The reasons for doing this are so that the bulbs do not wear out faster and so that when the switch is turned on you will not hear a buzzing sound.  A regular bulb is not built to very in the frequency of electricity that passes through it and thusly gives off a buzzing sound that is quite annoying. dinky door hinges

Ok yall this video is prime stuff, I have known this little trick for pretty much all my life.  Now you never expect a door to be loose and all wonky but it happens and when it does happen it is one of the most frustrating things to try and fix if you don't know how.  Only because like you can see in the video the wood itself is striped.  This happens to the door frame as well and this little trick will work for that also.  I normally use a pensile, but like this video says you can use any wood product. stripped screws that make you sad

Ok well with todays videos it can get a little tricky when you are trying to take out a screw that is stripped. These videos that I am showing you now are ways that I didn't know about and think they are very useful, especially if you do not have a tap and die set or any of the fancy tools they make.

 

If your screw is screwed in all the way this video helps but I have to say with this screw it has a allen wrench head and is not a normal screw, but you may find them in common household items.

shoe breakdown

Ok today we are looking at how to fix a shoe that just wont stay together. This has helped me save so much money, since I don't know why but my shoes always fall apart.  I chose to show this video because of how awesome I think gorilla glue works with shoes. Now don't get me wrong you can just as easily use super glue or hot glue, they work also, I am just a big fan of the gorilla.  Also this does not work for dress shoes that is a totally different ball game. However if you do have a pair of shoes that needs fixing and this video does not help you then please comment and we will figure this out.

Well I actually did not know how to fix a bike chain until I saw this video, so I know it will be helpful to you as well. how to change a car break light

Today we look at the light bulb that could get you pulled over and left with a big fat ticket.  Now I wouldn't want this to happen to anybody so we are going to give you the knowledge of how to prevent that copper from ticketing you for a silly light bulb.

hole in the wall

 

So you have a hole in your wall, well don't panic because it is simple and easy to repair.  This is the first thing I learned to fix when I was growing up and it is the most helpful. Their are some important things to note when fixing drywall. 1. their are different thicknesses so if you are not sure what thickness you need take the piece you cut from the wall and match it to the correct size at your hardware store.  2. their are two different styles of drywall one is regular and the other is green board, green board is for the bathroom and has green paper on it so it is easily recognized.

 

The best thing about drywall repair is that no matter the size of the hole the repair is always the same. make a square fill the hole with a patch tape and mudd. If you have a better way to patch a hole in the wall or any questions please comment

wierd water main

Today we look at the water main that supplies your house with water. This is an important thing to know because like the video says if you have a water pipe break in your house you should shut off the main so that the water stops running and the bill does not skyrocket.  Shutting off the water is also a necessary step in most plumbing repairs and if you are doing the repairs yourself then I hope this video helps.  If you have an easier way to locate and shut off the water, or if you have any questions then please comment

Electrical Pannels..... Where are they

Today we are going to cover how to find your electrical panel. This is very important when you are doing any repair or instillation work to insure that you are safe. Now this first picture is what you will be looking for.

 

This panel can be found in the garage or outside the house, if not found in these locations check in a closet or under the stairs. For the second picture it is showing how to turn off a specific breaker. Each breaker is responsible for its own power in the house, usually they are labeled with what area they power EX. Garage, kitchen and so on. Once you flip the breaker you should hear a loud click to tell you that the breaker is shut off, an easy way to make sure that the power is off is to plug in a radio and wait until it stops playing then you will know that there is no power.

Today we are going to look at how to fix or replace a broken electrical outlet.  Either an outlet that doesn't work or one that is worn out and wont hold a plug is one of the most frustrating things in a house to deal with. Today we will be looking at the gas appliances that just so happen to quit working.  I am referring to the stove, the heater, and the water heater.  These very necessary items are some of the hardest to figure out without some kind of foreknowledge. That darn faucet!!!!!

Have you ever been in bed sleeping and all of a sudden you can hear a dripping water sound like it was on the loud speaker right in front of you.  I have and I made it my priority to find out how to fix that dang faucet. I have posted a video for your convenience and hope that it will benefit you.  Their is nothing worse than waking up in the middle of the night and not being able to go back to sleep because of a little dripping water. Plus this will save you around $50 by not calling a plumber.

 so this is my first try at the whole video thing and ofcoarse its a youtube video. I have put up a how to on fixing your bike tire. This seems like a very common thing around the house that needs fixing and almost all of my friends do not know how to fix and or change out their flats so i have dedicated this video to not only help them but you also. Happy Valentines Day!! How to fix a broken heart

The Day is Valentines day and what is the most common thing to get broken on this day...... the HEART. 
What i advise and you can bet I have had my share of broken hearts:
1. Don't try and hide your feelings. The Worst thing to do is repress those emotions because at exactly the wrong time they will surface and create havoc. The best thing that i have found to do is get your favorite take out food and a movie that will help you thru the night and let it all go. If  you live with someone i would go somewhere  that  is private. This allows your feelings to be released and have the mind do its job to calm you down. I have found that in the times that i do this step i have gotten over my broken heart more quickly.
2. Don't force yourself to be social. Yet another thing that harms a broken heart is the not so broken hearts of others in the social environment. These people are out in the clubs and bars to meet people you are their to forget about people. One of the biggest drops in social perception is when you have a broken heart because you just want someone to make you feel important and forget about the person who just broke your heart.
3.Stay in touch with friends and family.  One of the best ways to keep your mind busy is to talk to others. Now you don't have to talk about your breakup however you should ask for advice because some of the people closest to you not only want to help but they have also been thru life and they could have advice and the experience to get you thru this.

Idea for the tribe

Ok so this may be a side bar but I want to put it in because I think it will help "The Tribe". If everyone likes the idea we should all follow each others blog and occasionally mention to our followers about the tribe and all the different blogs. This method of word of mouth could possibly be our golden ticket into getting the whole tribe up to 1000 followers. If we work together we can do it. 

Probing

     Ok so i have caught a little snag but not to worry their is plenty of time to work out the kinks. I have started to set things up for my first trial run. I am creating a flyer to hand out at the local supermarkets, while starting to plan a conference to have like 20 to 100 people be helped at once. The venue that i wanted told me that they where all booked up for the winter(thanks snowbirds). So on to plan b i am searching for  a nice big spot that preferably has a projector  and wont charge me anything to hold this conference. Any ideas please comment.
     Well the computer program that i am using is power point and although i have started to make some progress it is not coming out the way that i would like it to, but beggars can not be choosers and without some teck support i feal that the cause is a dangerous one to trudge. I will continue to work on this and when i get a result that is visually pleasing i will post it. If you have any suggestions please comment.
     The conference, yes i am trying to put together a one or two time event with refreshments and a audience to speak to about fixing things. The event will only have a 30 minute time limit and i plan on having a demonstration and some videos not to mention if all goes well i will have a guest speaker to unroll his handy man expertise for all. The first trial run

     OK so today is Wednesday and i have a idea that i want to put into action but like always i need a little help.  This has to do with the flyer that i want to hand out to get my name out into the public.  So i want to make a sheet of paper that has four little boxes in it and in those boxes i would like them to have the information and pictures. It dose not have to be to big i want people to hold on to them like putting it in their pockets or purses.  And since the flyers are only going to be two pages that makes two flyers per paper.
     The program i think i need to use is power point and compressing the slides into 4 per page but if their is another easier way please do not hesitate to comment thank you

The Project

     So for my first trial run i plan on making a two sheet (i guess you could call it a) flyer. With a short but detailed description of who i am and why i am doing this. Hey well i guess i haven't told you all yet who i am and why i am doing this haha.
      My name is Harlon Johnson and i am currently going to Mohave Community college. In my Psychology class i have a project that holds the highest % of my final grade. But not to worry its is somthing fun and easy for me to do. I bet from my other posts you can figure out what i am doing......yep yep i am teaching you how to fix things.
     Now you may be asking yourself "why" well i have always loved to fix things around the house. It makes my wife happy and makes me feel good since i did not have to call a repair man. Their are not that many kids now a days that know how to snake a drain or re wire a screen or even how to hang a door, all these things and more i got to learn from my dad when i was growing up.
     So my project i am going to have on the second page a short how to fix 1 2 3 with a picture and at the bottom i will put a link to this blog. My goal is to help people but for the class i need 1000 followers so please spread the message i literally can not do this without your help. If you only follow my blog and do not live in my immediate area do not worry all my remidies for fixing things will be on this blog. I will be blogging on all my progress and i will also post the evidence of my "flyer" so you can comment and such.
